dublin.beer is a map for people who care what's in the glass. Filter by type and rating, find what's near you, and follow the gold pins to the places where beer is the whole point.

What's on the map

Five kinds of venue: pubs, craft beer bars, breweries and taprooms, bottle shops (off-licences with a beer range worth the trip) and bars. The aim is to cover the whole county — from Balbriggan to Glencullen, Howth to Lucan — not just the city centre.

The beer-first badge

Some places sell beer; some places are about beer. The gold-ringed pins and the "beer-first" filter mark venues where the beer itself is the attraction: a rotating craft tap wall, a brewery on site, a bottle shop with a serious fridge, or a traditional pub whose pint has a reputation of its own. It's an editorial call, made by a human, and open to argument — make your case here.

Where the ratings come from

Star ratings are Google business ratings, refreshed monthly through the Google Maps Platform and shown alongside the number of reviews. Where a venue carries a dublin.beer rating instead, that's our own score for the beer specifically, and it takes precedence in the filter. Google's rules mean we never store their ratings for more than 30 days, and always show them on a Google map — which is why the base map is Google's.

Where the venue data comes from

Names, locations, opening hours and websites come from OpenStreetMap, the free map of the world that anyone can edit, and are used under the Open Database Licence. Corrections are welcome here, but the best place to fix a wrong pin or missing pub for everyone is OpenStreetMap itself — every venue's detail panel links to its OSM entry. The full venue list is published as open data.

Something missing or wrong?

Pubs open, close and change hands every week. If you know a venue that should be here, or one that shouldn't, suggest it — every submission is checked by a human before the map changes.

Who's behind it

dublin.beer is an independent side project. It doesn't take money from venues, breweries or listings, and it doesn't run ads. If you'd like to get in touch about anything else, the suggestion form reaches a person too.
